INTRODUCTION

It is defined as slight alteration of health as well as slight feeling of uneasiness which is manifested by few trivial symptoms observed only a short time due to some exciting cause which can be removed by a slight alteration in diet and regimen which do not require any prescribed medication for its treatment as it is not a true disease or sickness. Indisposition is also known as “mimicking sickness”.

Concept of indisposition is explained by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in organon in aphorism 150.

We must understand that indisposition is different from diseases arising because of miasm which cannot be cured without administration of dynamic medicines where vital force is deranged while in indisposition vital force protects itself without the help of any dynamic medicine.

DISCUSSION

In day-to-day life everyone suffers from indisposition which recovers on its own without taking any medications by only bringing some changes in diet and regimen, for an example when a person suffers from headache due to continuous working without any rest and lack of sleep then such headache can be cured by simple ways of proper rest and sleep as causation is disturbance in normal routine of the individual. Also, we often see that during festive seasons many people complaints of indigestion, acidity and deranged digestion (diarrhoea, etc.), in such cases overeating is the root causation which can be controlled by fasting and light diet while in cases of moderate to severe diarrhoea people needs medical interventions.

CLASSIFICATION OF INDISPOSITION-

1)ACUTE INDISPOSITION

2)CHRONIC INDISPOSTION

1)ACUTE INDISPOSITION-

It refers to temporary feeling of unwellness due to some exciting cause which do not affect the vital force, so it recovers on its own without any help of dynamic medicine.

Most common examples of acute indisposition are headache due to lack of sleep which recovers after a good night sleep, fatigue, exertion, etc.

2)CHRONIC INDISPOSTION

It refers to a feeling of unwellness due to some maintaining causes which do not affect the vital force to such extent, so it recovers on its own without any help of dynamic medicine but removal of the maintaining cause will bring the state of comfort or wellness to the individual. As in cases where eyes are painful due to any foreign body, so removal of its give relief from the discomfort, etc.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DISEASE AND INDISPOSITION-

As it is known as mimicking sickness which do not require any dynamic medicines and vital force recovers on its own where removal of exciting or maintaining cause removal is sufficient to bring back the state of relief, so it is very important to know the difference between disease and indisposition by physician because it is the stage from where disease can really start if it happens frequently and do not able to recover on its own. Disease is dynamic derangement of vital force which is expressed on mental, physical as well as emotional levels by different sign and symptoms which requires dynamic medicines and complete anti-miasmatic treatment for recovering of vital force.

A true dynamic derangement of vital force in form of disease is really needed to be distinguished from a mere indisposition as it needs proper treatment with the help of dynamic medicines because if left untreated it can lead to fatality or in some cases vital force recovers at the cost of severe harm to physical stamina.
